Meet Your Region 8 Governor
This presentation will be an introduction to your Alaska Region 8 Governor, Dr. Oceana Francis, who is serving as governor during the 2024-2027 cycle. She will provide a brief overview of her work at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, her involvement in ASCE, and how ASCE can help your career as a civil engineer.
Presenters:
Dr. Oceana P. Francis is a Professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. Her research focuses on the resilience of urban communities and infrastructure systems from hydrodynamic hazards. She is a licensed civil engineer in both Alaska and Hawaii. She has served ASCE in several roles including as faculty advisor for the ASCE Hawaii Student Chapter and as past president for ASCE Fairbanks Branch. She received her MS from UAA and PhD from UAF.
